About

One of the most classic and nostalgic dinners for summer is tender, falling-off-the-bone ribs smothered in sweet-tangy BBQ sauce. Served with a side of Summer Quinoa Salad and some freshly sliced watermelon and you’ve got yourself a summertime feast! I love how easy these ribs are to make — and they come out  perfectly tender and delicious every single time!

Since so many BBQ sauces contain High Fructose Corn Syrup or another form of refined sugar, I simply make my own using natural ketchup and coconut palm sugar. Here’s the recipe for homemade BBQ Sauce.

Serves 8

4 pounds pork ribs

½ cup coconut palm sugar

1 teaspoon sea salt

1 tablespoon smoked paprika

1 tablespoon garlic powder

¼ teaspoon ground red pepper

2 cups BBQ sauce

Directions
1

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Rinse the ribs and pat dry. Remove the tough membrane from the bony side.

2

Combine the coconut palm sugar, sea salt, paprika, garlic and red pepper in a bowl and mix well. Rub the spice mixture all over the ribs.

3

Place the ribs on a double layer of foil. Place another double layer of foil over the ribs and crimp the sides to connect the foil pieces all the way around. Place this foil tent on a baking sheet and bake for 2 hours and 15 minutes, until the meat starts to shrink away from the ends of the bone.

4

Cut the ribs into 2-3 rib pieces. Place bone side up on top of the foil and baste with BBQ sauce. Put the oven on broil and place under the heat for 1-2 minutes, until bubbly. Turn the ribs over and repeat basting and broiling. Enjoy!
