Do you love Brussels Sprouts yet? That image of a soggy Brussels Sprout smothered in liquid cheese has become quite out-dated, so if you’re holding on to that it’s time to let it go.
Brussels Sprouts are one of fall & winter’s tastiest vegetables. In fact, I believe that every holiday feast should include a deliciously prepared Brussels Sprouts dish. And this dish, hands down, is the one that I’ll be serving this year.
This recipe shreds the Brussels Sprouts, then sprinkles it with bacon and serves it on savory homemade gravy. There just aren’t words for how delicious this tastes! Enjoy!
3 bacon strips
1 onion, thinly sliced
1 pound Brussels Sprouts, shredded
¼ teaspoon sea salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
½ cup chicken broth
1 batch real healthy gravy
Over medium-high heat, cook the bacon in a large skillet until crispy. Remove the bacon strips, leaving the grease. Crumble the bacon and set aside.
Add the onion slices to the skillet, and cook for 5 minutes, until soft over medium heat.
Run the Brussels Sprouts through a food processor with the grating attachment until shredded. Add to the skillet along with the salt, pepper and broth. Cook for 15 minutes, until the liquid has been absorbed and the Brussels Sprouts are tender. Sprinkle with the crumbled bacon and serve on a spoonful of Real Healthy Gravy.
