On July 2, 2015, I received a phone call that turned my life upside down. My dermatologist had found malignant melanoma in a mole on my back, during a routine skin check, and just like that I became a cancer patient. Me?! A cancer patient?! Up until that point I had spent most of my thirty-four years eating well and exercising often. To say I was blindsided would be an understatement.
My time as a cancer patient was (thankfully) short-lived. Due to the early diagnosis, the melanoma was small enough to be removed with an outpatient surgery. The frightening experience left me changed, though. While I was always excited about healthy foods, post-cancer I became intent on eating for health. I never wanted to face down another serious diagnosis. I asked my doctor for direction. What should I eat to prevent the cancer from coming back?
Her answer didn’t surprise me: freshly pressed green juice.
The concentration of nutrients found in fresh-pressed juice helps strengthen immunity, and its natural vitamins and minerals are easily, and completely, absorbed by the body.
6 Mixed Greens
1 cucumber
1 Orange
1 Green Apple
½ bunch fresh parsley
½ bunch fresh cilantro
2 inches fresh ginger
Run all of the ingredients through your juicer. Drink immediately. Enjoy!
