Make-your-own-taco night is a very popular event at my house. The kids take their taco making very seriously, and provide commentary the whole way through. Chloe: My taco is very salad-y. More lettuce. More tomatoes. Andrew: Pass the beef, I missed a spot. Oh yeah, this thing is l-o-a-d-e-d!
Note: Make your tortillas the day before, or the morning of, to save yourself prep time right before dinner. The tortilla making is the most time-consuming part of this dinner, but the result is so delicious that it’s worth it.
2 teaspoons chili powder
½ teaspoon sweet paprika
½ teaspoon ground cumin
½ teaspoon onion powder
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon sea salt
2 pounds ground beef
1 Tomato, chopped
1 head Lettuce, shredded
¼ cup sliced black olives
½ cup guacamole
½ cup chunky salsa
½ cup pico de gallo
Combine the spices with the ground beef. Mix well. Go ahead and get your hands dirty. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the beef.
Put the browned ground beef in a large bowl and set out with a stack of tortillas and taco toppings. Have fun assembling and devouring your tacos. Enjoy!
