Some things aren’t quite what they seem to be.

Like the novel with a plain cover that’s hiding the most riveting tale upon its pages.

Children may take the world at face value, but we know that it takes a little digging to find gold.

This Dark Chocolate Super Seed Bark is a prime example of why we should make a practice of looking beneath the surface. It doesn’t look like anything special and the list of uber healthy ingredients might raise suspicion about flavor. Could a morsel this full of wholesome ingredients really taste like a treat?

Think of this treat as wholesome chocolate toffee bark. The flavor is honestly incredible and far more decadent than the healthy ingredients would lead you to believe.

And while you’re going to be enamored by the flavor, this chocolate-y treat is keeping a really nutritious secret…it’s bursting with Omega-3 Fatty Acids.

Hemp Seeds, Chia Seeds, Flax Seeds and Sesame Seeds all contain generous amounts of Omega-3 Fatty Acids, which contain all sorts of powerful health benefits for your body and your brain.

This is hands down the sweetest way to get your daily dose of Omega-3’s. A win-win for your taste buds and your health.

Serves 24

¼ cup pure maple syrup

4 tablespoons coconut oil, melted and divided

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon instant espresso powder

pinch of flake sea salt

1 cup uncooked quinoa

½ cup raw cashews

½ cup Walnuts

2 tablespoons hemp seeds

2 tablespoons Chia Seeds

2 tablespoons flax seeds

2 tablespoons sesame seeds

1 cup lily’s chocolate chips (stevia sweetened)

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl combine the syrup, 2 Tablespoons of coconut oil, vanilla, espresso powder, pinch of flake sea salt, quinoa, cashews, walnuts and all of the seeds. Mix until fully combined and then spread the mixture over the prepared baking sheet into a thin layer. Bake for 20 minutes, until golden and crisp.

In a double boiler, melt the chocolate chips and the remaining 2 Tablespoons of coconut oil. Drizzle the chocolate over the seed bark in an even layer, smoothing it with a spatula. Sprinkle with flake sea salt and place in the fridge to set for 30 minutes. Remove and cut or break into pieces. Store in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer.

Quick Tip

Keep a bag of these tasty morsels in the freezer and reward yourself with a delightful bite of omega-3′s whenever the mood strikes.
