It’s hard to find sweet treats for kids that aren’t packed full of harmful sugar! That was the motivation behind this easier-than-easy treat recipe: a sweet treat that kids will LOVE having packed in their lunch or served as an afternoon snack, hiding superb nutrition and no sugar.
I used a grain-free cereal called Three Wishes in the recipe below - essentially it’s Cherrios made without grains, sugar or gluten. If you’d rather use plain Cherrios that would also work. Another modification that you could make would be to simply bag this treat up rather than chill it in clusters.
These TRULEAN protein clusters are proof that healthy treats packed with good nutrition are possible and taste just as delicious as the sugary stuff that we are trying to avoid. I hope that you and your kiddos love this recipe as much as we do!
4 cups unsweetened, grain-free Three Wishes Cereal (or plain Cheerios)
1 cup salted, roasted peanuts
1 cup pretzels
1 bag lily’s chocolate chips (stevia sweetened)
1 tablespoon coconut oil
4 cups unsweetened, grain-free Three Wishes Cereal (or plain Cheerios)
1 cup salted macadamia nuts
½ cup Dried Blueberries
1 bag Lily’s stevia-sweetened white chocolate chips
1 tablespoon coconut oil
In a large bowl combine the cereal, nuts, pretzels and/or dried berries.
Using a double boiler, melt the chocolate chips and coconut oil together until smooth. Remove from heat.
Pour the melted chocolate over the cereal mixture and mix until fully combined. Sprinkle with the protein and mix until fully incorporated.
Scoop the mixture into muffin liners and place in the fridge until chilled and solid. Enjoy!
