About

These days I can’t so much as step into the kitchen without Chloe appearing by my side.

If mommy is making something, she’s going to be the helper.

Her favorite thing is cracking eggs…fun and messy!

This month her magazine had a recipe for apple crisp — she brought it straight over to me, excited to make it.

I took this as a learning opportunity, and we sat down together and looked at all the ingredients listed in the recipe. White flour, butter, sugar…I explained how we can take healthier things from our kitchen to make the same recipe.

Together we crafted this healthier version of the apple crisp recipe.

Make this recipe with your little helper

Serves 12

4 organic apples

½ cup golden raisins

1 tablespoon coconut flour

2 tablespoons pure maple syrup

1½ tablespoons lemon juice

½ cup coconut oil

½ cup almond flour

½ cup coconut palm sugar

½ cup sliced blanched almonds

½ cup Pecans, chopped

Directions
1

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Generously grease a baking dish with coconut oil.

2

Core and chop the apples. Combine the apples, raisins, coconut flour, maple syrup and lemon juice in the prepared dish.

3

In a bowl, use your fingers to combine the coconut oil, almond flour, coconut palm sugar, sliced almonds and chopped pecans. When the mixture is crumbly, sprinkle it over the fruit.

4

Bake for 30-40 minutes until the top is browned and apples are tender.
