A happy 2016 to you, my friend! Here you are on day one of a brand new slate, with 365 days stretching out before you, 365 brand new chances to instill new, healthy habits that will bring you closer to your lifetime goals.
It’s an exciting feeling, isn’t it?! The feeling of possibility…
But there’s risk in the exuberance – risk of over committing to a slew of resolutions that creates overload – and lands you right back where you started – giving up on all fronts.
The most effective way to instill lasting, positive change in 2016 and beyond is to aquire one new, healthy habit at a time – and make it a part of the fabric of your daily life before going on to add another. This is where true change and improvement begins – one new daily habit at a time.
Take a moment now to commit to one new daily habit to carry you into 2016…make it simple enough that you’ll stick with it, and important enough to create measurable improvement.
The habit of trying one new healthy recipe every day would be a fantastic place to start 🙂 And to start you off here’s a brand new recipe for Oven Steamed Beets…
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Scrub the beets and remove the greens (save these beet greens to steam and season with sea salt and black pepper).
- In a casserole dish, toss the beets with the olive oil. Season with sea salt and black pepper and add the sprigs of thyme and ¼ cup water. Cover tightly with foil and roast in the oven for an hour or until tender.
- Remove from the oven and cool in the covered pan. Rub off the beet skins with paper towels. Serve and enjoy!
I’ll be sending you many more cleansing recipes like this one throughout the month of January, as you get back on track with your healthy cooking and eating. Remember to drink plenty of water and to fill up on plenty of greens and high fiber veggies this month.
