About

Here in Chino Hills, a farmer’s market is set up every Wednesday afternoon at our outdoor mall, The Shoppes.

The kids and I have our routine.

They each get 2 dollars, one to purchase 4 local and organic honey sticks and one to drop into the guitar case of the white haired, oldies-playing musician.

I browse my favorite produce booths, usually picking up a few bags of season fruit and a few vegetables.

The kids spend a few minutes begging me to get a bag of kettle corn or a bunt cake (seriously, why are those booths allowed at a farmer’s market?) and then they settle for samplings of fruit and freshly roasted peanuts.

Fresh strawberries fill the air with such an inviting aroma, I always end up taking a box home.

This recipe is a way to quickly and simply turn farm fresh strawberries into an elegant dessert. By using high quality ingredients the taste of this dessert cannot be matched.

Serves 5

20 ripe, organic strawberries

¼ cup dark chocolate, 72% cocoa

5 wooden skewers

Directions
1

Wash and hull strawberries.

2

Poke the skewer through the center of the strawberries, lining 4 strawberries per skewer.

3

Gently melt the chocolate over low heat in a double boiler.

4

Line the skewers side-by-side on a large plate. Use a fork to dip into the melted chocolate and drizzle across the row of strawberries. Once all the chocolate has been used, place the skewers in the refrigerator for 20 minutes until the chocolate has hardened.
