Plenty of recipes require that the yolks be separated from the whites. Often this is so that the whites can be beaten into a fluff and which adds an airy lightness to the recipe (like my recipe for Fluffy Egg White Biscuits!) And while this is usually a frustrating task, today I’m going to share a simple trick to save the day.
Who knew that separating egg yolks from egg whites could be so easy…and FUN!
All it takes is an empty water bottle. Watch this quick video and I’ll show you how. Then scroll down for step-by-step photos 🙂
Cool, right? The kids and I played with egg yolks for the better part of last Saturday afternoon – lol!
Place the mouth of the water bottle directly over an egg yolk. Slowly release your fingers to allow more air (and the egg yolk!) to enter the bottle.Once you’ve got the first egg yolk in your bottle, transfer it over to the empty bowl. So fun!
This is also quite a fun activity for the kids to play around with 🙂 Enjoy!
