About

It just feels right to post this ahhh-ma-zing recipe for homemade, baked hot dogs on the 4th of July. The combination of cooked ham with ground pork gives it an authentic hot dog taste, all without the frightening ingredients of manufactured hot dogs. If you’d like to use ground turkey or chicken, that works too.

So while millions of other folks are out there eating ‘mechanically separated’ turkey dogs–with blended meat and bone bits, corn syrup, high sodium, preservatives, chemicals, artificial colors, as well as artificial flavors–you can sit back and enjoy a Real Healthy Hot Dog with peace of mind.

These dogs make a quick and easy weeknight dinner. Simply combine the ingredients, form into hot dogs and put in the oven for 35 minutes. It makes enough for dinner and lunch for the next day!

Serves 15

2 eggs, beaten

½ cup blanched almond flour

¼ cup flax meal

½ cup onion, finely minced

2 tablespoons coconut milk, canned and full-fat

1 teaspoon dijon mustard

¼ teaspoon black pepper

12 ounces ground cooked ham

12 ounces ground pork, raw

Directions
1

In a large bowl combine eggs, almond flour, flax meal, onion, coconut milk, Dijon, and pepper. Add ground ham and ground pork; mix well. Shape into 15 hot dogs, using about ⅓ cup mixture for each ball. Place hot dogs in a lightly greased baking dish.

2

Bake, uncovered, in a 350 degree F oven for 35-40 minutes or until done. Transfer hot dogs to a serving platter and enjoy!
