This weekend I was literally bombarded by the McDonald’s Egg White Delight McMuffin marketing campaign and now I’m so angry I can hardly see straight.
Saturday afternoon I first spotted a billboard on the side of the 91 Freeway. McDonald’s marketing a healthy sandwich…I rolled my eyes. Then later that night B and I were getting our workout on with the radio cranked up and I heard a radio spot for this magically healthy sandwich…I went on a mini-rant to B about how many people were being deceived. Sunday morning while leafing through a magazine, lo and behold there was a full page ad along with coupons for free Egg White Delight McMuffins…..aaaaaggghhhhhhh! At that moment I knew that I had to take some action in letting people know the truth.
THE TRUTH: Egg White Delight McMuffins are NOT HEALTHY! Eating one for breakfast will NOT HELP YOU LOSE WEIGHT!
This crafty marketing campaign is disguising processed fast food as a “wholesome” breakfast option. What a scam.
Wondering what’s in this?….an English muffin filled with carbs and gluten as well as corn syrup…egg whites, which have been so processed before making it to your sandwich that they now contain soy letchin and Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil…processed and nitrate-filled Canadian style bacon…pasteurized white cheddar cheese, again imagine how processed this cheese is…and liquid margarine which contains Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil.
The total ingredients in this so-called wholesome breakfast? More than 70 ingredients make up one 250 calorie sandwich.
In my opinion this marketing campaign is criminal. Fast food is fast food, and if you make the decision to eat it then you should know that you’re eating junk. Innocent people are being tricked into thinking that if they go to McDonald’s and order the Egg White Delight then they are eating healthy. It makes me sick to my stomach.
Since I am not able to put out a multimillion dollar marketing campaign to get some real wholesome breakfast ideas in front of the world, please share this page with anyone you know who McDonald’s may be taking advantage of.
