How to Press Tofu

Drain tofu

The hardest part about pressing tofu is remembering to do it 30 minutes before you start cooking.

Here’s how you do it:

  1. Open and drain the tofu. Slice the entire block in half, the long way through the middle.
  2. One at a time, hold each slice over the sink and GENTLY squeeze, allowing water to drain out.
  3. Place two sheets of paper towel on a cutting board and place the slices, cut side down. Place another two sheets of paper towel on top of the tofu and put a large can on top of each slice.
  4. Leave your tofu to drain for 20-30 minutes.
